Services for Educators

The Arts Touring Alliance of Alberta believes that increased exposure to the arts not only enhances learner outcomes, but also contributes to the growing cultural ecology of our society. The Live Arts Portal therefore provides educators with comprehensive information related to arts education touring, assists in maximizing school and community resources, and eases the task of coordinating a school performance or residency – and of finding the funds to pay for it.

Specific Arts Portal services for educators include:

• a web-based artist directory (with links to artist websites and samples of their work)
• a web-based touring calendar
• an on-line forum for discussion with other educators and stakeholders
• fundraising advice and support
• face-to-face consultation about artist contracts, relationship-building, and planning as well as about other important, school-specific issues;
• linkages to national arts education initiatives
• access to research on current arts education tenets and innovative units and lesson plans
